Wooden shop-houses, beach-front markets, and easy transport make Fisherman’s Village a must on every Samui itinerary.

Why Everyone Ends Up Here
Fisherman’s Village sits along Bophut Beach, where Samui’s original fishing families once traded their catch at the pier. The wooden shop-houses remain, but they now hide espresso bars, French bakeries, and massage studios. By day it’s great for a relaxed swim or spa visit; by night the lantern-lit streets glow as chefs grill seafood meters from the shoreline.
Getting There
From Bangkok, the fastest option is a one-hour Bangkok Airways flight direct to Samui, followed by a 15-minute taxi north. Travelers arriving via Surat Thani Airports can transfer to the ferry, then continue 30–60 minutes by road to Bophut. If you’re already staying near Garrya Tongsai Bay or the Choeng Mon headland, a quick motorbike or taxi ride drops you at the market in under 20 minutes.
Beach Days and Boutique Browsing
Bophut’s sand may be narrower than Chaweng’s, but the water stays calm enough for mellow swims and stand-up paddle sessions. When you tire of the sun, wander the boutiques for linen outfits, handmade jewelry, and ceramics. Street vendors dish out skewers, northern Thai sausage, and coconut ice cream, while upscale restaurants plate whole grilled fish with ocean views. Finish with a Thai massage at one of the small spas tucked into the alleys.
Night Market Rhythm
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday the main road closes for the Fisherman’s Village Night Market. Expect rows of souvenir stalls, cocktail carts served in coconut shells, and live acoustic sets that keep the vibe relaxed rather than rowdy. Arrive around sunset to claim a spot for photos, then weave through the stalls once the air cools.
Tips for a Smooth Visit
Bring cash for market shopping, but most sit-down restaurants accept cards. Wear comfortable sandals for the uneven wooden walkways, and if you’re renting a scooter, park on the outer ring road to avoid tight alleyways. Above all, slow down—Fisherman’s Village rewards travelers who let curiosity (and the smell of grilled seafood) guide each turn.
